At Rutonde our porridge and goats project is bearing fruit, or at least kids.
Last year we started to give goats to families in the village and the benefits are starting to show themselves. The next generation has begun to appear and with a mother producing two or sometimes three kids, the population soon begins to grow. These are valuable sources of income that families that have little else.
Our other kids (of the two-legged variety) are also doing well. The Rutonde project currently provides a daily meal of fortified maize porridge to twenty malnourished children. We are now on our third batch of children, each of whom will spend six months on the programme which also provides medical check-ups.
We plan to visit Rutonde in the next couple of weeks when we will update the site with the latest news.
