The good ladies of Loanhead have been at it again. Knitting needles aroud the parish have been clicking furiously to produce enough outfits to kit out half Rwanda's new-born babies.
Today we delivered the latest batch of clothes to Embrace Rwanda, a Canadian Charity which has established a presence around Rwanda working with mothers and children. We would have made the delivery yesterday, but the Kigali office which was expecting the clothes is near the Amahoro Stadium.
For the uninitiated, Amohoro Stadium is the national sports ground and Rwanda is currently hosting the African Nations Cup football tournament. Yesterday, Rwanda were playing one of their group matches at the Amohoro and getting anywhere near the place would have been a nightmare.
The baby clothes will be used by Embrace Rwanda in their Healthy Mums project which provides support towards healthy pregnancies and full-term healthy babies. The founder, Hilary King was in Kigali to meet us after flying in from Canada last night.
