Besides a castle, an extinct volcano and more bars per head of population than any city in the world, Edinburgh is famous for its festivals. The international arts festival during the summer is the big one and we are not long past the science festival spanning the Easter holidays. This weekend saw the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and a menu of events from a children's 1 kilometre up to the full 26 mile race on the Sunday. Saturday saw the 10k event and running in aid of Mission Rwanda were Fiona Ryalls and Carolyn Hunter. The race started from the space-age designed Dynamic Earth in the city's Holyrood Park. From there the runners were taken around Arthur's Seat, that extinct volcano, the scenic Dunsapie and Duddingston Lochs, and a panoramic view of the old town before heading into the home stretch. Many thanks to all of you who sponsored Fiona and Carolyn.
